14 staff and 20 cadets from 1344 Cardiff Squadron completed their first overseas adventurous training expedition on 20 August 2009.
The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range across a northern stretch of Africa extending about 2,400 km (1,500 miles) through Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
We flew from Gatwick to Marakkech, spent a whole day in Marakkech followed by 3 full days and 2 half days walking the trails in the Atlas Mountains at between 7,000 and 9,000 feet. We were accompanied by 10 mules and muleteers, 2 cooks and 2 mountain leaders provided by the Adventure Company http://www.theadventurecompany.co.uk
